FW(little)IW, the stickers are far easier to forge than the horns, but those look very nice indeed, especially for the price. Congrats!

congratulations! the serial numbers on mine are 641 and 848...they look exactly like the pair I have....maybe the throats on yours are a little better? I spent at least 8 hours slowly grinding and filling and priming them...and it was a real pain...but they sound fantastic! When the us postal service gets its act together I'm looking forward to converting a set of 511b's...and then getting my motorcycle buddy to paint em up like a harley roadster...ya know have a little fun with this hot rod hobby without wheels.

John, I just took the backboards off of my Magnificents to look at mine. They are the same color as your most recent pair. In addition, one mounting ring, yes on stabilizing fin, & short throat. Thick flange with just three mounting holes for large format. NO stickers. Throats are clean as a whistle. Remember, I walked mine through the manufacturing line summer of 1980, in Anaheim, so I had the horn shop clean all the flash from the throat, kinda like port matching a good set of heads to a set of headers (different board), then asked that the stickers not be installed, but thrown in the boxes in packing.

John, in a word, no. The 802-8G is my favorite small format, but I didn't care much for it in that app.(7000hz to ?). A 902 would be better suited IMHO. Then, thanks to Bill & Todd, I happened upon a very nice pair of N1285-8B's. They really did the trick for my mid's & even high's over the N501-8B's I had for 30 years. Let's face it, my old ears won't hear past what those 288-8G's can dish out anyway. What? Sorry to further change topic. I pm'ed you details.

Have to agree on the 802G, with the exception of the little 12 inch and bent horn monitor, I think the 900 sounds better there...

    Re: Help verifying Horns 511E's

Yeah John, the 1285-8B's are adjustable 500, 800, & 1200hz, and they are workhorses compared to the "A" versions.....and yes, got them from Bill, thanks to Todd.
I may as well go public with my findings. I have always crossed my 515/288/511E combo's @ 500hz. Just always thought in a horn loaded app that was "proper". BUT, with these networks I have experimented with 800hz & even 1200hz with surprisingly nice results. My 515-8LF's (old Anaheim alnico models) roll off very little after 1000hz, and the old data sheet says good to 1500hz. This is, after all a hifi app, so yes, they sound great with a little more grunt down lower.

O.G., I agree with your agreement. I have used both the metal & plastic versions of the curved horns with both 802-8G & 902-8?, and the 902 got the nod, but I'm still hooked on the 802-8G with 811B's, preferably with 23744 dia's.
    288's rock this neighborhood, though.
